The first weekend of the NCAA tournament is now over with 65 teams decreasing to 16 teams. There was a hand full of upsets and overtimes games in the tournament. The sweet 16 teams are made up of power conferences and some unknown conferences. One of the power conferences that doesn’t have a team in the sweet 16 is the Big Ten. This is the first time in several years that the Big Ten Conference was not present in the Sweet 16.

THe conference that is leading the way is the Big East Conference with has 6 of the 16 teams. Following the Big East is the SEC and ACC conference that was 2 teams each. THe suprise conference in the tournament is the Missouri Valley Conference that also has 2 teams in the sweet 16 (Bradley and Wichita State). There are four conferences that have four different teams that make up the rest of the field.

All four number 1 seeds are still in the tournament at this stage. There are only 2 number two seeds left following the exit of Tennessee and Ohio State in the second round. This weekend will be a fun weekend to watch basketball when 16 teams battle to try to be one of the 4 places in the Final Four.
