Disc Golf Season (#11)

The weather is staring to cool down and the Fall tournaments are starting up. Then the ICe Bowl is right around the corner for the players that can’t get enough disc golfing. Personally, I’m getting ready to start hitting the gym and start conditioning myself for next years season.

I hope to see more of you next season at tournaments and I’m hoping to be playing at more tournaments. Plus I’m hoping to be injury free next year. Injuries this year has kept me from playing in several tournaments this year.

Disc Golf Season (#10)

I did a newbie mistake over this last weekend. I forgot to load my Discs into the car before I went down to Keokuk. So I didn”t throw discs this weekend. I seen a lot of players throwing discs though. I”ll be down in Ottumwa this weekend and throwing at Wildwood Park. I will remember to pack my bag, because my bag is now in the trunk of my car.

I also added a few more links to the Links Section of my blog. If you have a link that you want to see there, feel free to leave a comment or send me a response throw my contact link at the top of the page.

Disc Golf Season (#9)

Update on me.

Here is the scoop. My elbow on my throwing arm is recovering just fine. It is to the point where I can start throwing discs again. I also found out what help cause me to hyperextend my elbow. I got a brand new Nintendo DS a couple months ago and the way I was holding it caused my elbow to start hurting. My elbow really started to hurt even more after throwing a few discs. So trying to loosen up my arm, I threw a disc to hard and hyperextend my elbow.
Other than my elbow getting better, I had an opportunity to teach Disc golf to a bunch of Cub Scouts at there camp. The bad news is that I had other plans that I had to do (My Mother’s Birthday). I let them borrow my portable disc basket and about 10 discs. I showed the counselor a few ways to throw the disc and some footing directions. I also shared some facts about disc golf. I recommended how to set up a single hole with the disc basket. After the camp was over I visited with the counselor when he brought my stuff back. He told me how much the kids enjoyed throwing the discs at the basket. He set up about a 225 to 275 foot hole for them to throw. He had to keep chasing kids to their next sporting event to allow others to try it. He told me next time they have something similar to this camp, he was plan on inviting me to it and borrow my stuff again.
I’m also going to be in Keokuk this weekend for the holiday. I’m going to plan on throwing at the courses down there. I’m going to take a break on Saturday to watch the Iowa Hawkeyes stomp Montana. I might see some of you on the course if you are down there. I’ll keep everyone informed on how I throw this weekend coming off my elbow injury.

Disc Golf Season (#8)

I didn’t throw discs this last weekend due to hurting my elbow again. I believe this injury will stop me from playing for the rest of the season, but I’m trying to see if a can savage this season by playing in some tournaments this fall.

Disc Golf Season (#7)

I just noticed that I haven’t wrote about my disc golf season for a while and I owe everyone an update. So here is the update.

I’m currently taking some time off due to the real hot heat we are having and due to the injury to my throwing arm elbow. I believe I hyper-extended my elbow while throwing discs last month. After I heal up from my injury and the weather starts to cool down I’ll be throwing again.

I’m going to try to throw a round this weekend at Rand Park in Keokuk, Iowa. I’ll play until my elbow really starts hurting or until I finished throwing 18 holes or until the heat chances me back inside. So maybe I’ll see you on the course this weekend.

Disc Golf Season (#6)

I have decided not to throw in the Iowa State Championships this weekend. I don’t feel that I’m good enough to throw against the big dogs yet and I’ll pass on spending alot of money to finish in the lower half of the field. I’ll be throwing at Rand Park again this weekend and also I’ll be throwing at Hamilton’s 9 hole disc golf course on Saturday. I’m always looking for a group of disc golfers to play with or even have a little side bets with. If you are out throwing discs out at these parks this weekend, then I might see you then.

Disc Golf Season (#5)

I finally competed in my first tournament of the season. I played 2 rounds of 12 holes at Washington Park. 9 regular holes and 3 temp holes. I played the first round and found myself setting in a tie for last place. I shot a 53 which was pretty good for throwing at the course for the first time. After lunch is when I turned up the heat at the tournament. I shot a awesome 49 and threw my Proline Beast Disc over 350 ft. a couple times. At the end of the second round, I leap frogged into 4th place. I was trailing the leader by 8 shots at the end of the tournament. I thought I did awesome for being my first tourney in 4 years. My next tournament will possiblity be the Iowa State Championships this weekend. The Iowa Games and the Osky Challenge is now off my list due to family things. I also found out that there will be another tournament in Washington in July.
